Laser Skin Resurfacing

PALOMAR 1540

Palomar 1540 is a nonablative fractional erbium laser treatment used to resurface the skin, and stimulate collagen below the skin’s surface. It is an excellent treatment for overall skin rejuvenation, and treating fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, and surface texture irregularities.

The laser creates microfine channels of injury, stimulating the body’s own wound healing response to create new collagen, as well contract and heal the tissue.

The result is smoother skin. The treatment typically requires a series of treatments for optimal results, typically 4-6 treatments spaced one month apart.

Treatment for acne scars, stretch marks, or surgical scars may take additional treatments.

For darker skin tones, a test patch is often performed to determine optimal settings. It is also recommended to discontinue any retinol topical products 2 weeks prior to treatment, and to come in with untanned skin (no recent heavy sun exposure, recent tanning bed, or spray tan).

Treatment includes the application of topical numbing cream, followed by cleansing the skin, and then the laser treatment itself.

We recommend blocking out 1 hour of time to provide adequate time to numb (15-30 min on average), performance of the treatment, followed by application of sun protection.

Recovery is typically 1 day of “social downtime” including mild redness and swelling, followed by a healing phase for the rest of the week which may show faint signs of the laser pattern and a feeling of dryness.

[Individual results and downtime will vary based on skin sensitivity and aggressiveness of the treatment, with settings as determined by the doctor.]

Treatment is performed personally by Dr. Patel, who has approximately 9 years of experience performing laser treatments for various indications.
