LABIAPLASTY
Labiaplasty typically refers to the reduction of the labia minora (inner labia). This has become more common in recent years, and the attention to the procedure has allowed more women to feel comfortable discussing the procedure and seeking treatment. Common complaints include difficulty maintaining hygeine, pain or discomfort during sexual intercourse or activities such as bikeriding, frequent irritation due to friction with clothing, embarrassment due to excessive protrusion beyond the labia majora, clothing limitations, and simply a dissatisfaction with the aesthetic appearance of the labia. It is important to keep in mind that the appearance of the labia varies among women, and there is no one variation that is considered ideal by all. Beauty is subjective, and the decision to undergo reduction of the labia is based on personal preference and/ or relief of the above types of complaints.
